Christy Gould began taking piano lessons at the age of four, and began studying harp when she was ten (she also played cello, tuba, and euphonium). At the age of eleven---that's right, we said ELEVEN!---she was the pianist and worship leader for her church and sang in the Youth For Christ ministry Children of the Light. While pursuing double degrees in Piano and English Literature at Ohio Northern University, she studied for a year in Wales (she has Welsh blood in her, so it was a natural fit); while there, she was Choir Director for a local Anglican church. She lived for a brief time in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving as organist and accompanist at a Lutheran church. Christy then returned to her senses and to Ohio and began attending Evangelical Community Church (EPC). Christy currently maintains a large private piano studio in Cincinnati (through Piano Lessons in Your Home) and performs throughout the area (both harp and piano). She is devoted to her dog Jasper, a cowardly braveheart who ferociously barks at visitors while hiding under her bed. Multiple talents, devotion to God, and celtic ancestry---psalterbook couldn't ask for more.
On December 22, 2007, Christy married our dulcimer and alt-percussion player Isaac Gould (so we're keeping it all in the p-book family!). They currently reside in Baltimore when not in Cincinnati recording and playing.
Oddly relevant tidbit: Christy makes the best Welsh tea-cakes this side of Cardiff.
