psalterbook
Dave Matre began his interest in music at the age of 15 when he came across a second-hand guitar and began teaching himself to play.  Initially influenced by the likes of Stephen Stills and Eric Clapton, his tastes and interests eventually broadened to include folk, blues, jazz, and country music.  He has played with a number of groups over the years.  Most recently, he has worked with LOA (along with Matt Frazer), whose CD Observations  features original songs written and sung by Dave.  The eclectic nature of psalterbook fits nicely with Dave's style; on any given day he can be found listening to Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, or Christopher Parkening.  Dave's wife Nancy is understanding of this variety, though the turntable and record collection are kept in the basement by spousal decree.  Dave's children, Adam (5) and Grace (3), keep his vocal and playing skills polished on such classics as This Old Man and Polly Wolly Doodle.
